About SAfrica Golf Tours

SAfrica Golf Tours started life as a pipedream for me, Ian Slater in 2004 when I first visited South Africa, I was on a holiday to meet my soon to be wife’s parents.

Having lived and worked in London all my life, I instantly fell in love with the country that I would one day call home. I had travelled quite extensively myself but nothing had prepared me for the natural beauty I would encounter on the trip. I found myself in a world of beautiful white sandy beaches, rugged mountain ranges, lush green forests and surrounded by wildlife that I had only ever seen on television.

From 2004, we regularly returned to South Africa, at least twice a year, spending our time travelling up and down the country, staying and playing golf at as many different venues as we could get in. I spent 3 years in the UK arranging tours from the cold and wet weather in London, until early 2008 when we finally had the courage to relocate to Cape Town where the business is run from today.

I was originally amazed at how truly world class the golf courses and facilities on offer in South Africa really are, most at a fraction of the cost compared to their European counterparts. However five years on and I am still experiencing the highest levels of service from all sectors of the hospitality industry.
